The Starting Point |
We were supposed to get all sorts of rain this weekend, but it didn't pan out, and it was hot and humid, so we decided to go to Starkey's Loop for a 4 km hike. It starts out in the fields, but, very quickly, you end up in forest, going up and down hills, through swampy bits, past fields etc. There are some very old (100-150 year old in fact) split-rail cedar fences that abut the trail, remnants of the demarcation of framer's fields. It was a bit buggy with mosquitoes, especially as we were sweaty, but it was nice to get away from the house and do a nature walk.
